20-31: Prime Numbers & Super Bowl 54

  • Kansas City won by 11 scoring 31 points.
  • 31 is the 11th prime number.

  • San Francisco scored 20 points.
  • 20 is the number to which (11) must be added to reach (31), the 11th prime number.
  • The 20th prime number is 71.
  • The total points scored was 51.
  • 51 is the number to which (20) must be added to reach (71).

51 + (20) = (71)

  • The 54th prime number is 251.

251 + (31) = 282

  • The 71st prime number is 353.

  • 282 is the number to which (71) must be added to reach (353), the 71st prime number.

  • Kansas City scored 31 points.
  • The 31st triangular number is 496 (the 3rd perfect number).

251 + 496 = 747

  • On the trading day preceding Super Bowl 54 the Dow lost 603 points.
  • On the first trading day after Super Bowl 54 the Dow gained 144 points.
  • (603 + 144) = 747

  • 7 is the 4th prime number.
  • (4×7) = 28 (the 2nd perfect number)
  • 28 is the 7th triangular number.
  • The numbers 7 and 47 link together the various prime relationships.

Consider:
  • Kansas City scored 31 points, winning by 11 points.
  • 31 is the 11th prime number  11 is the 5th prime number.
  • The prime chain is [5, 11, 31].
  • (5 + 11 + 31) = 47
  • Patrick Mahomes wears number 15.
  • 47 is the 15th prime number.

  • Super Bowl 54 took place 138 days after Mahomes' 24th birthday.

  • 89 is the 24th prime number and 11th Fibonacci number.

  • The opposing team was the 49ers.
  • 49 is the square of 7.

89 + 49 = 138

138 + 89 = 227

  • 227 is the 49th prime number.

  • During a non-leap year the 138th day of the year leaves 227 days remaining.

The Dow had a four day win streak (February 3 to 6) following Super Bowl 54.
  • Feb. 3   143.78 ≈ 144
  • Feb. 4   407.82
  • Feb. 5   483.22
  • Feb. 6   88.92 ≈ 89
Note that the four day win streak begins and ends with a Fibonacci number.

(144 + 408 + 483 + 89) = 1124

  • The final point gain during the four day win streak was 89 points.
  • The total gain over the four days was 1124 points.
  • 89 is the 11th Fibonacci number and 24th prime number.

  • The 49ers scored 20 points.
  • The total points scored was 51.
  • The 20th prime number is 71.
  • 51 is the number to which 20 must be added to reach 71, the 20th prime number.
  • The 71st prime number is 353.

Consider the chain of prime numbers starting at 7:
  • The 7th prime number is 17.
  • The 17th prime number is 59.
  • The 59th prime number is 277.

(17 + 59 + 277) = 353

Fibonacci Numbers:

The first day (February 3) of the 4 day win streak occurred on the 34th day of the year.  34 is the 9th Fibonacci number.  The win streak both began (144 points on Feb. 3) and ended (89 points on Feb. 6) with a point change that is a Fibonacci number.
  • The total net change on Feb 4th and Feb 5th was (408 + 483) = 891 points.
  • The average daily point change over each day was (1124/4) = 281 points.
  • 891 - (281) = 610 (the 15th Fibonacci number).

  • The 54th prime number is 251.
  • The 251st prime number (1597) is also the 17th Fibonacci number.

Perfect Numbers:

  • 7 is the 4th prime number.
  • (4*7) = 28 (the second perfect number)
  • The 7th triangular number is 28.

  • The 31st triangular number is 496 (the 3rd perfect number).

  • The 31st prime number is 127.
  • The 127th triangular number is 8128 (the 4th perfect number).

  • The 127th prime number is 709.
  • The largest point gain in the Dow's history was 1086 points on December 26, 2018.
  • 1086 - 709 = 377 (The 14th Fibonacci number).
  • The largest point drop in the Dow's history was 1175 points on February 5, 2018.
  • (1175 - 1086) = 89 (The 11th Fibonacci number).

Summary

The final score to this year's Super Bowl was 20-31.  Kansas City won by 11 points scoring 31.  31 is the 11th prime number.

It's possible to communicate a prime relationship by writing a single number.  For example, consider again the number-prime relationship [11, 31].  One way to communicate this relationship is by simply writing 20, since 20 is the number to which 11 must be added to reach 31.

Now consider that San Francisco scored 20 points.  The 20th prime number is 71.  The total points scored was (20 + 31) = 51.  The number-prime relationship [20, 71] can be communicated by simply writing 51, since 51 is the number to which 20 must be added to reach 71.
